    Optimizing Time Utilization of FMS

    The aim of the research is to solve the problem of simultaneous production on the flexible manufacturing system with different combination of product types and quantities that will give maximal utilization of production system. The presumption for good utilization of FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System) is in forming of working order with such product type structure that will make possible of production processing with minimal time load of complete production system. Working order structure from the point of product types and quantities is dictated by market demands that are known earlier. Because the structure of particular working order is not harmonized with the exploitation characteristics of FMS, we are faced with problem how to realize working order in such conditions as well as how to achieve main goal: shorter machining cycle with less time occupation of production system. The method based on two phases for solving problem of control working order realization is presented in the work. In the first phase the selection of optimal combination of process plans which gives minimal time load of production system through simultaneous production of different products and their quantities is given. In the second phase the order of part production and the order of particular operations processing is optimized. The optimization problem in both phases of control is solved by application of genetic algorithm approach. The software for computing and optimizing of processing order on FMS is developed

    Study of Influence of Aluminium Content on Machinability of Magnesium Alloys

    This paper describes an experimental investigation on the formation of flank build-up (FBU) during the machining of five commercial magnesium alloys. It was demonstrated that the presence of intermetallic Ī²-phase in magnesium matrix is responsible for the difference in the machinability of magnesium alloys. Experimental tests have revealed that surface defects such as cracks and pores may promote the formation of the FBU. The influence of cutting speed on the FBU formation was studied with the aid of surface roughness, tool forces, and chip form

    Entity Ordering Optimization Process Using Virtual Environment

    A combined empirical-mathematical method, which uses classification of materials based on their supply and consumption characteristics is required to calculate the quantities of each material and material replenishment schedules. The volume that is required to store certain material is always greater than the actual real volume that material occupies in space. Materials with simple configuration, if sorted properly, require fewer warehouses, transport or stock volume, than the ones that have complex configuration. An optimization model for a replenishment schedule takes into consideration the material volume factor. If an entity ordering in the given storage volume is taken into consideration, the financial resources related to the manufacturing of a product can be reduced. The problem of entity ordering in the drafting phase of inventory management can be solved by using 3D CAD software which provides and supports a generation of optimal entity ordering, using simulated and real objects, handling, storage and carriage equipment, as well as other influential features. In this way, engineers can generate all possible variants of entity ordering. Every variant must be estimated in relation to the financial context and manufacturing context. If more than one variant satisfies the limitations, the one that has the biggest cost saving influence becomes the new operative replenishment schedule. To check the usefulness of the new approach for the replenishment of schedule optimization process that integrates an entity ordering optimization procedure, an example of a simple assembly is presented

    Strong competition and continuously changing market demands require constant change and improvements of a companyā€™s business. For production companies, it is very important to keep their production processes efficient by constantly improving them. In this paper the production management process approach is presented, as well as the fundamentals of Lean production. Value stream mapping has proved as one of the efficient tools for the analysis of production. Application of this tool for the analysis of waste in production process is presented in the case study.Velika konkurencija i stalne promjene u zahtjevima tržiÅ”ta zahtijevaju od poduzeća stalnu promjenu i poboljÅ”anje poslovanja. Za proizvodna poduzeća jako je važno zadržati poslovne procese efikasnim, na način da ih se kontinuirano poboljÅ”ava. U ovom je radu prikazan procesni pristup upravljanja proizvodnjom te su dane osnove Lean proizvodnje. Kao jedan od efikasnih Lean alata za analizu procesa proizvodnje pokazao se alat Mapiranje toka vrijednosti. Na primjeru iz prakse pokazano je kako ovaj alat može biti koristan u analizi gubitaka tj. rasipanja u proizvodnom procesu

    Različite vrste utjecaja koji djeluju unutar relativno jednostavnih proizvodnih procesa dovode do toga da u tim procesima vlada složeni sustav djelovanja na izlazne parametre procesa. Predviđanje izlaznih parametara u budućnosti predstavlja izazov i zahtijeva upotrebu niza statističkih alata kao važnih dijelova sustava osiguranja kvalitete unutar proizvodnih sustava. Različite matematičke distribucije vjerojatnosti kojima se mogu opisati izlazni parametri vrlo često otežavaju procjenu sposobnosti procesa. Odabir načina izračuna sposobnosti procesa zahtijeva pred-procesiranje podataka s kojima je moguće doći do konciznog i preciznog zaključka o stanju procesa. U ovom je radu predložen postupak pred-procesiranja podataka temeljem kojeg je moguće odabrati prikladnu formulu za izračun sposobnosti procesa. Prikazane su matematičke metode koje su sastavni dio postupka, kao i njihova primjena na primjeru iz automobilske industrije.Various types of influences that operate within a relatively simple production systems lead to the fact that, in these processes, a complex system of governing actions on the output parameters exists. Predicting output parameters in the future is a challenge and requires the use of many statistical tools as an important part of quality assurance in production systems. Various mathematical probability distributions that can describe the output parameters often make it difficult to assess process capability. Selection of process capability calculating formula requires data pre-processing with which it is possible to reach concise and accurate conclusions about the state of the process. This paper proposes the procedure for data pre-processing based on which it is possible to choose the appropriate formula for the calculation of process capability. Mathematical methods that are an integral part of the process are presented as well as their application in the example from the automotive industry
